Den Cineasten unter Euch ist dieser Name ganz gewiss ein Begriff. Zumindest aber denjenigen, die sich an Stanley Kubricks Film Barry Lyndon aus dem Jahr 1975 erinnern. In dem Film wird der junge Ire Redmond Barry durch seine Heirat mit der reichen Gräfin Lady Lyndon zu eben diesem Titelhelden.
Bei Redmond Barry, die wir heute vorstellen, handelt es sich allerdings um eine Band um den Singer-Songwriter Matthias Holke. Holke, der in Chicago aufwuchs, hat seinen Wohnsitz kürzlich nach München verlegt und präsentiert nun das erste Album der Band. Produziert wurde es in den JOYRIDE STUDIOS in Chicago.
Die Musik ihres Debutalbums ist eine Mischung von Rock, Psychedelic und Country. Beim Anhören tritt auch der Sound der 70er klar hervor. Die einzelnen Songs handeln von gewonnener und verlorener Liebe, aber auch Liebe im Allgemeinen und ihrer Konsquenzen, was Fragen nach dem Warum und Wieso aufwirft.
Redmond Barry nehmen den Zuhörer mit auf eine Reise der Selbstreflexion und Entdeckung. Ein Wechsel von innerer Zugewandtheit und Protest spiegelt unsere komplexe Welt in ihrer ganzen Vielfalt wider.

Movie buffs among you will certainly be familiar with this name. At least those among you, who remember Stanley Kubrick’s 1975 film Barry Lyndon. In the movie the young Irishman Redmond Barry marries the wealthy duchess Lady Lyndon and thus becomes Barry Lyndon.
Today, however, we are introducing the band Redmond Barry around singer-songwriter Matthias Holke. Matthias grew up in Chicago, IL and only recently relocated to Munich. He is now presenting the band’s first album. It was produced at JOYRIDE STUDIOS in Chicago.
The music on the debut album is a mixture of rock, psychedelic and country. The character of the 70s is clearly present. The individual songs deal with lost love, newly found love and love in general and its consequences, which elicits questions of the how and why.
Redmond Barry are inviting listeners on a journey of self reflection and discovery. alternating between inward facing attentiveness and protest mirroring our complex world in all its diversity.
